Countybank
In June 2006, executives from Countybank approached MAC to assist them in building their corporate art collection of resident artists. Congratulations to Randy Armstrong, Eric Benjamin, Carl Blair, Patti Brady, Lynn Greer, Mark Mulfinger, Teri Pena and Katie Walker whose paintings are now hanging in the Countybank Greenville headquarters on West McBee Avenue. We thank Countybank for its commitment to support resident artists.
Greenville Symphony Orchestra
MAC collaborated with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra (GSO) in 2005 and 2006 on the latter’s Mozart Festival in honor of the composer’s 250th birthday. In January, 2006, an exhibit of Mozart-themed painting was on display at the MAC gallery. The exhibit consisted of all entries juried for the festival’s advertising and promotional materials. Congratulations to Joseph Andrews who received a $500 cash prize from MAC.
MAC also worked closely with GSO staff members in promoting the Shostakovich Centennial in the fall and the Spotlight chamber music series at Centre Stage – South Carolina. This exciting new programming features Friday morning and evening performances of GSO’s chamber players in the warm, intimate and inviting setting of Centre Stage-South Carolina.
St. Francis Festival of Trees
In the fall of 2006, MAC worked with the St. Francis Foundation in preparation for its annual Festival of Trees. MAC provided leads for entertainment as well as artists who would be available to participate in the Christmas Village in Piazza Bergamo during December.
Riverplace Development & City of Greenville
In August 2006, MAC collaborated with the City of Greenville and RiverPlace Development in Art Crossing at Riverplace, a collection of artist studios in the Riverplace building on South Main Street. Mayor Knox White, Greenville City Council and Phil Hughes and Theresa Rowe of Hughes Investments are to be commended for bringing this project to fruition.
University Center
In July 2007, MAC partnered with the University Center of Greenville to commission a local artist to design and erect a sculptural work commemorating the 20th anniversary of the University Center. The sculpture will be in place in early 2008.
