Reading and booksigning for "Desperate Fun," a collection of short stories by Joey Holland.
Monday, January 23rd, 2012, 7 p.m.
Coffee Underground
1 E. Coffee Street, downtown Greenville
From the author:
My name is Joey Holland. I have written a book, the first of a trilogy, about drug addiction in general and my family's darkest history in particular. I am a recovering drug addict with thirteen years clean. I am fifty years old.
When I was seventeen, my father, then a member of the SC House of Representatives, was sent to prison for insurance fraud. The rest of my family; my mother, two sisters and I immediately started behaving in flamboyantly trashy ways, a veritable white trash-a-thon. This sordid behavior is chronicled in my book, 'Desperate Fun'.

Cuts can be made but the sheet must remain relatively whole -- so not cut in half, etc. You can use one or both sides of the sheet and use any media. That could include computer generation, watercolor, drawing, collage, oil/acrylics, photography, printmaking techniques, sewing, etc.
Workshop and Tutorial
Kevin Isgett will offer a Saturday afternoon workshop in conjunction with the MiniBook Collective's Call for Entry.
Join us on Saturday, January 21st, 1205 Pendleton Street, 3pm, for a discussion and workshop focused on the creative opportunities of this book making project.

Got an Analog Synth and would like to jam and improvise with other musicians on your wave length? Are you a VJ and looking for a venue where you can throw down some killer projections? Got a new song or soundscape you would like to play for others? Then why not join SHARE Greenville?
SHARE is first and foremost a platform to explore expression, in a variety of artforms. Through its openjam-styled sessions, SHARE engages its participants and spectators in a continually changing dialog on art and culture. As such, SHARE represents an ongoing exploration of collaborative performance as cultural exchange. It mines the relationship of artistic practice to cultural identity, remapping a multiplicity of cultural discourses. The act of creating artistic content in a multicultural collaborative context is a fascinating and natural extension of the SHARE concept.
Bring your equipment/instruments/gear etc. to join the jam! (Contact directly with each SHARE node for meeting date and detailed information.)
We generally receive audio &/or visual participants - not necessarily digital. Analog &/or acoustic instruments (analog synths, acoustic string/horn/percussion/etc instruments), homemade gadgets, film/slides (if you'll bring a necessary projector), etc. are happily invited!
