Inspiration is Power

Cato and Randi Johns, both members of The Artist's Guild Gallery of Greenville,
are putting their wildly creative minds together to teach experimental techniques
involving mixed mediums. This class is being taught at the intermediate level and
will cost $160.00 per student and will cover (8) two-hour sessions, beginning
Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, at 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Pat & Randi are both celebrated
artists and each have a deep well of unique talent. This class promises to be
lots of fun while promoting individual creativity. In order to give individual
hands on instruction, this class will be limited to six students. Sign up early

Creating Artists for Tomorrow

Art Classes for Children and Teens (age 6-16), emphasis on drawing with time
spent on other media as well. Donna
Landau has a B.S. in Art Education and has been teaching these classes for
years. Classes encourage creativity and
also make sure that the students learn art skills in each class. Class size is
limited to 8 students. Classes are convenient to both Greenville and
Spartanburg and are taught at Donna Landau's studio
Tuition is $50 per month. Registration and materials fee required. Regular sessions are offered on
Tuesdays. 4:15-5:15; and
5:30-6:30.
Art
and Yoga for Kids
A great class to combine creativity and movement,
art and yoga for kids is taught and designed by Susannah Mele. Each class is an
hour and sessions run for four weeks. All supplies are provided. Each sessions
begins with the first half hour devoted to the art of yoga. Kids learn about
breath, focus , balance and strength and
learn various ways of practicing yoga. The second half is devoted to the art of creation. Projects include
weaving, mandalas , painting, and more... Each session ends with a yoga
demonstration and art show for parents.

Figure Drawing
(Adults)--
Whether you're a beginner or advanced
student, you'll enjoy the pace of this class. Instruction is tailor-made to
meet your skill level. The relaxed atmosphere and simple explanation will help
you learn proportions of the figure. Most of the time will be spent drawing
from live models, so just bring a large sketch pad (11 x 14 larger) and drawing
pencils to the first class and you’ll be ready to begin. (Dates: Mondays; Fee:

Beginner's Drawing (Adults/Teens)--Draw
for the fun of it. We'll study the basics to help you capture what you see so
that you can express yourself artistically. We'll start with perspective, and
explore shading and simple composition. You'll need a large newsprint sketch
pad (11x14 or larger), drawing pencils, and charcoal pencils or charcoal
sticks. (Dates: Tuesdays) Four classes (two hours each)
Private lessons are also available for high school
students and adults.

Glass Fusing Classes for Kids
Announcing fusing classes for school aged kids (2nd through 8th grade)!
Learn how to make beautiful fused glass artwork. Each week we will learn about a new way to
work with glass to create projects such as pendants, dishes, barrettes, votive
candle holders, or picture frames. Each
class session is for one month (four classes) and the cost for each month is
$85.00 per student. Classes will take
place after school from 3:45-5 pm on Wednesdays or Thursdays beginning February

Making Art Festivals Work for Artists,
a one-day workshop led by
Bruce Bunch, a skilled artist who has successfully marketed himself on the
festival circuit.
Saturday, 1 session February 27, 11 am–4:30 pm, $39 (participants should bring
lunch), GCMA Theater
If you are an artist who wants to participate in art festivals or shows
and want to use your time and money effectively, this workshop is for you.
Bruce Bunch combines experience in marketing with participation in art
festivals throughout the Southeast and applies insights gained as a practicing
artist to help other artists market their work. Topics include the business of
art, including marketing, promotion, set up and equipment for a booth, and tips
on how to display, price, and sell your work. Demonstrations and hands-on time
are included.

GLT's "Project
Theater"
is an intensive one-week adult
acting/directing/writing class that will be held February 1 - 5 from 7 - 10

Art classes with Julia Peters are not
structured to every student doing the same thing. For example, while you may want to be working
in oils, your neighbor may be working in watercolor. Julia works with each student
individually. It's like having a
semi-private lesson! You choose your own
subject matter and work at your own pace in a casual, artistic atmosphere.
Classes meet once a week for an entire session. We offer 3, 4, 8 and 10 week sessions. Morning classes are held from 10 am to 1 pm

The Writing Room
Thursday Classes
A variety
of two-hour writing classes on topics such as first drafts, dialogue, point of view,
character, plot, and the business of writing.
You'll get a mixture of brief talks that hit the
high-points and writing exercises that let you try your hand at what you've
just learned. Discussion of published works-short stories, novel and memoir excerpts,
and creative nonfiction- will illustrate these concepts. You'll also have the
option to share your in-class work.
These are stand-alone craft classes.
Take one, or all, as many as you like, in no particular order. For
beginners and experienced writers alike, these classes will sharpen your
writing, and help you develop your strengths. Registration required.
