Each painting begins in reality…. a vase, a person, a landscape. Once the paint begins to cover the canvas, the painting takes on a life of its own becoming an abstraction of the reality. The focus is the world within the four corners of the canvas. Color, texture and pattern become the subject. It is not the red, yellow and blue but the colors that they become. Painting is my means of exploration. My eyes are constantly open to the amazing people, places and things that inspire me to recreate them in abstraction. I love color and brushwork as a means of contrasting the subject. A work finished is a land conquered followed by thoughts of my next journey.
