LOUISA PYLE KIRK
painting, mixed media
By twelve I was fascinated with portrait painting. Over the next few years I took classes and learned ways to capture a model’s likeness. I planned to continue to study Art in collage but graduated with a degree in Economics after deciding it was more practical. With a major career change at forty I started to move back towards my artistic side. I’m painting people again, but more abstractly with mixed media techniques learned in classes. My subjects always begin as imaginary, but by the time I’ve finished they have become someone I know.
