Artist Statement

Much of what inspires me depends on what is around me and what I am immersed in during the various seasons of the year.
During the spring and summer I focus much of my attention on landscape painting, the outdoors, nature and people's day to day interactions with each other.
During the fall and winter most of my focus is on portraiture and musically themed pieces.
This has enabled me to work towards my goal of becoming a well rounded artist.
I strive to capture light, mood and emotion in my paintings.

My work has been described as photo realism but with a classical flare.

Jan Vermeer, John Constable, Caravaggio, and Norman Rockwell were all masters of storytelling .Each had their own individual and distinct styles of painting but all had one characteristic in common, they were all masters of storytelling.
All of them have had a profound influence on me, how I work, the techniques I use and how I approach my subject matter within my compositions.
