Mission Statement:
Blank Canvas is here to provide samplings of art to students that don’t get to experience it at home, school or enough as he/she pleases. Art supplies can be expensive and schools are cutting funding for such programs. So Blank Canvas was created to make art an extra-curricular activity for those that want more. We are big believers in allowing freedom for our students to experiment with new supplies and see what they can create on their own. In addition, we provide some instruction that may help them down the road in their artistic pursuits.

 General Types of Classes :

After School Art Enrichment Classes at the YMCAs
Blank Canvas introduces and teaches students how to use charcoal, pencil, conte, and pastels in this course. In each class we will focus on one medium and complete two to three projects. Our projects range from abstract to realism and we always encourage creativity and teach a little bit of art history during each class.

Watercolor: Blank Canvas introduces and teaches students how to use watercolors in this course. In each class we will focus on art history and creative thinking. The students will complete two to three projects per class period.

Ceramics/Sculpture: Blank Canvas introduces and teaches students how to work with clay and sculpture materials. The first half of the course will be spent on ceramics. The students will learn the basic terminologies in ceramics as well as learn important techniques. During the sculpture section students will look to famous sculptors and create pieces inspired by the masters.

Painting: Blank Canvas introduces and teaches students how to paint in this course. In each class we will complete two to three projects. Our projects range from abstract to realism and we always encourage creativity and teach a little bit of art history during each class.
